Golden Gate Transit
Ways to Pay
Tap your Clipper card or contactless bank card when you board and tap off with the same form of payment when you exit. Learn why tapping off is important.
Paying with Clipper
Golden Gate Transit accepts cash value on a Clipper card. Adult riders who use Clipper get a 20% discount for most travel; the discount is 10% on trips within Marin County, and there is no additional discount for travel between San Francisco and Contra Costa Counties. Riders with a valid Marin Transit 31-day pass receive free rides within Golden Gate Transit Zones 2-4, but you must tap on when boarding and tap off when you exit.
Transferring with Clipper
Clipper knows when to give you free and discounted rides when you transfer.
Golden Gate Transit Golden Gate Transit: Two free or discounted rides within 3 hours of boarding first bus and boarding last bus.
Golden Gate Ferry Golden Gate Transit: Two free or discounted rides based on the cost of your ferry ride within 3 hours of boarding Golden Gate Ferry.
