SolTrans local fare changes for Clipper customers will be effective January 1!

Prepare for these changes:

Manage your transit benefits by contacting your provider or logging into your transit benefit account to ensure your benefits cover these increases.

Make sure your Autoload payment method has sufficient funds available to cover these increases. This includes transit benefit debit cards. Clipper recommends adding a backup credit card for your Autoload purchases if you haven’t already done so. Log in to update your Autoload settings.

No refunds will be granted for costs resulting from blocked Clipper cards.


Using Clipper on SolTrans

You can use Clipper on all SolTrans fixed routes. Clipper automatically figures out the cost of your ride, including all discounts and transfers. See Fares and passes for more information on the types of value available.

If you are paying for your ride with cash value, you must have a minimum balance of $2 on your Clipper card.

To use Clipper on SolTrans, locate the Clipper card reader on the bus. Tag your card by holding it flat against the Clipper logo on the reader, and wait for the beep and green light. The card reader either will verify that you have a valid pass and display the expiration date or will deduct the cash value fare and show your remaining balance.

If your card balance is low, the reader will beep twice and display a yellow light. You can still board the bus, but you will need to add value to your card before your next trip. If you do not have enough value on your card, the reader will beep three times and display a red light, and you will not be able to pay your fare with Clipper.
