Senior, Disabled and Youth
Senior, Youth and Disabled Fares are now available with Clipper®
Senior and Youth Muni customers can receive Clipper cards by applying in person, filling out an application and providing proof of age. Once your application is approved, your card will be mailed to you. To find out where to apply for a Senior or Youth Clipper card, please click here.
Muni disabled fare customers must have a Regional Transit Connection (RTC) Clipper-compatible card. If you do not have an RTC Clipper card, you may obtain a card by visiting:
Muni (San Francisco Municipal Railway)
27A Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94120
415.923.6070, TYY 415.701.4730
Applications accepted Monday-Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
How to use
Once you receive your Clipper card, you can load cash (which can be used as fare payment on any transit agency that accepts Clipper) a Muni monthly pass, or a 10-ride book onto your card.
Proof-of-Payment
When using a monthly pass or cash value, you must always tag your Clipper card to the card reader each time you board a vehicle or enter a station fare gate. Your tag is your proof to operators and fare payment officers that you have either paid your fare or are within the free transfer period.
Transfers
With cash on your Clipper card, you no longer need to take a paper transfer when transferring to another Muni vehicle or another transit agency that accepts Clipper. Clipper automatically calculates the 90-minute transfer period or inter-transit agency transfer discount.
Additional information on how to use Clipper in general and on Muni can be found at: How to use your Clipper card, Ways to Add Value, Fares and Passes and Muni FAQ. Clipper also works with a variety of transit benefits programs.
